US Experience:

    Rocky Mountain Overthrust Oil Reservoir

      Project scope: seismic structural interpretation and depth imaging.

      Work accomplished:

      • Performed seismic forward modeling to establish the seismic time structural model based on the synthetic to seismic tie.
      • Performed geostatistical time-depth conversion using well log depth marker pick and interpreted time horizon.

    Delaware Basin Wolfcamp Sand Reservoir

      Project scope: 3D seismic inversion for wolfcamp sand system.

      Work accomplished:

      • Performed QC on well logs and seismic data.
      • Performed wavelet extraction and seismic-to-well calibration.
      • Performed acoustic impedance inversion using geostatistical methods.
      • Performed stochastic modeling of reservoir porosity conditioned to AI cube

    Permian Basin Carbonate Reservoir

      Project scope: integrated reservoir characterization for carbonate reservoir

      Work accomplished:

      • Performed wavelet extraction and seismic-to-well calibration.
      • Performed attribute analysis to establish the correlation between seismic acoustic impedance and reservoir petrophysical property.
      • Performed deterministic and stochastic acoustic impedance inversion using various geostatistical methods.
      • Generated 3-D porosity models conditioned by acoustic impedance cube.
      • Analyzed the porosity-permeability relationship form the core data.
      • Generated 3-D permeability models conditioned by 3-D porosity cube.
      • Computed lithology models to determine non-productive silt and productive carbonate zones.
      • Evaluated new drilling potential based on the model results.

    Oklahoma Waterflood Reservoir

      Project scope: water-flood performance evaluation and recovery optimization

      Work accomplished:

      • Performed spatial statistical analysis of the reservoir properties.
      • Generated reservoir porosity, net to gross ratio, and permeability models using geostatistical method.
      • Exported the 3D geologic model grid to ECLIPSE simulator.
      • Performed history-match using ECLIPSE 100 black-oil simulator.
      • Generated production profiles based on various water injection patterns.
      • Analyzed the economic benefit of drilling additional water injection wells.

    Gulf of Mexico Deep Water Reservoir

      Project scope: integrated reservoir characterization and fluid-flow simulation for POD (plan of development).

      Work accomplished:

      • Performed blocky AI inversion using Hampson-Russell’s STRATA.
      • Performed attribute analysis to determine the correlation between seismic acoustic impedance (AI) and well log porosity.
      • Performed geostatistical time-depth conversion to generate depth map.
      • Generated multiple reservoir porosity models conditioned by 3-D AI cube.
      • Analyzed the porosity-permeability relationship from the core data.
      • Generated multiple permeability models constrained by the 3-D porosity models using porosity-permeability relationship.
      • Performed water-flood reservoir simulations to establish the probabilistic reserve distribution.

    Alaska Turbidite Channel Reservoir

      Project scope: integrated reservoir characterization using seismic attributes.

      Work accomplished:

      • Derived facies proportion maps based on seismic AI and AVO attributes.
      • Performed statistical analysis of facies-dependent petrophysical properties.
      • Performed stochastic lithological modeling constrained by facies proportion maps.
      • Performed facies-based stochastic simulation of reservoir porosity and permeability.
      • Upscaled the model results and exported to VIP simulator corner point geometry grid.

International Experience:

    UK North Sea Oil Reservoir

      Project scope: reservoir simulations for optimizing field development strategy.

      Work accomplished:

      • Performed reservoir simulations using ECLIPSE 100 black oil simulator to evaluate various pressure maintenance scenarios: (1) crestal gas injection and down-dip water injection strategy, (2) WAG (water-alternating-gas injection) process.
      • Evaluated the incremental benefit of miscible CO2 injection scheme using ECLIPSE 200 simulator.
      • Performed simulation studies using “local grid refinement” along the horizontal wellbore to compare production profiles between horizontal well and vertical or deviated well.

    UK North Sea Gas Condensate Reservoir

      Project scope: geostatistical reservoir characterization, upscaling, and

      compositional simulations for optimum gas re-cycling strategy.

      Work accomplished:

      • Generated high-resolution (~ 1.2 million cells) geostatistical reservoir models of porosity and permeability constrained by geologic template.
      • Upscaled the fine-grid models to coarse simulation grid (~ 10,000 cells) for input into ECLIPSE 300 compositional simulator.
      • Performed Equation-of-State (EOS) fluid characterization (10 components) using ECLIPSE PVT programs.
      • Performed compositional reservoir simulations using ECLIPSE 300 to evaluate gas re-cycling strategy (i.e., injection rate, interval, sweep efficiency, etc.)

    UK Gas Storage Reservoir

      Project scope: risk analysis of gas storage project.

      Work accomplished:

      • Performed petrophysical analysis of porosity-permeability relationship from core data.
      • Generated multiple stochastic reservoir models of porosity and permeability constrained by geologic interpretation.
      • Performed reservoir simulations using ECLIPSE 100 to evaluate the gas production/injection well locations and the number of wells required.
      • Performed economic analysis to determine the risk of gas storage project.

    Middle East Oil Reservoir

      Project scope: integrated reservoir characterization using 3-D seismic attribute

      Work accomplished:

      • Assisted in 3-D seismic interpretation and attribute extractions.
      • Performed seismic attribute analysis to determine the relationship between seismic amplitude and porosity.
      • Analyzed porosity-permeability relationship.
      • Generated fine-scale stochastic reservoir models of porosity, permeability by integrating seismic amplitude attribute with well logs.
      • Upscaled the model results and exported to VIP simulator corner point geometry grid

    Indonesia Oil Reservoir

      Project scope: new field POD (plan of development) study.

      Work accomplished:

      • Assisted in 3-D seismic interpretation to correlate with well logs.
      • Performed seismic AI inversion modeling and analyzed the correlation between seismic AI and porosity.
      • Analyzed the DST pressure transient test data to determine the channel sand geometry and its behavior.
      • Generated stochastic reservoir models of porosity and permeability conditioned by 3-D seismic AI data.
      • Performed DST drawdown and buildup test simulation using ECLIPSE 100 to validate the 3D geologic model description.
      • Performed reservoir simulation to scope waterflood facility requirements for POD.

    Russia Oil Reservoir

      Project scope: assessment of volumetric uncertainty and reserve distribution.

      Work accomplished:

      • Performed statistical analysis of seismic amplitude relationship to reservoir properties: net sand thickness, porosity, etc.
      • Performed uncertainty analysis on seismic velocity and depth converted structure map.
      • Generated multiple reservoir models constrained by seismic amplitude map.
      • Calculated the volumetric uncertainty.
      • Performed full-field reservoir simulations to assess the reserve distribution.

    South America Condensate / Black Oil Reservoir

      Project scope: integrated reservoir characterization and fluid flow modeling.

      Work accomplished:

      • Performed 3D faulted reservoir structural framework modeling.
      • Performed 3D geostatistical reservoir property modeling conditioned to lithofacies.
      • Performed reservoir fluid PVT characterization and Equation-of-State modeling.
      • Performed RFT, DST and Well Test pressure interpretation to analyze the dynamic reservoir behavior.
      • Performed compositional simulations for reservoir management study.
