iProject Frequently Asked Questions
I was trying to log into the iProject and one of the steps in the startup screen failed. What should I do? The problem could vary depending on which step failed. The first thing you should always do is click the Help link next to the step that failed. This will provide you with detailed information about possible causes for the failure. Follow the instructions given in the help links, then close your browser window, and try to log into the iProject again. If you continue to have problems, please contact support. I loaded the iProject successfully, but I can't see any projects? What's going on? This could be caused by a few different things. First, try maximizing your iProject window. Sometimes the iProject window can be too small to view the projects in the project list, especially if you have a smaller monitor or if your monitor's running at a lower resolution. If you've never logged into the iProject before, it's possible that you've not been set up with permission to view any projects. Talk with the administrator that's in charge of the project or projects you're trying to view and make sure they've given you the proper permissions. If you've done this already, are sure you have permission to view the projects, or have viewed projects in the past, you may have a caching problem. Exit the iProject and close all of the browser windows you have open. Next, go to your control panel and look for the Java Plugin. Open this, select the "Cache" tab, and click the "Clear JAR Cache" button. Once this is done, you may close your control panel and the Java Plugin window and restart the iProject as normal.
If none of the above works, please contact your iProject administrator or email support. How do I change my password?
I think I've found a bug in the software or I'd like to make a suggestion/request a feature. Who should I contact about it? In the "Help" menu, choose "Bug Report." This will take you to the iProject bug submission page. When filling out a bug report or feature request, be sure to fill out each of the fields provided as it will help us to fix the problem or better identify the features you're asking for. Information like what operating system you're using, the browser you're using, and what version of the iProject you're using are very important for helping us narrow down the root cause of problems. The "How to Reproduce" field is very important. When filing a bug report, please try to explain the steps you might have taken leading up to the occurrence of the problem. In any case, the better information we receive from you, the faster we'll be to help you with your problem or respond to your feature request! I'm experiencing very strange graphical problems in the iProject. It was working fine before, but now things aren't quite right. This could be due to a caching problem. If that doesn't fix the problem, please contact your iProject administrator or email support. I can't access the iProject and I'm behind a proxy or firewall. What should I do? It's possible that your company firewall or proxy server is not allowing you to log into the iProject. The iProject requires your firewall or proxy server to allow outgoing TCP requests and replies to 12.183.80.102 on any one of the following ports: 443, 2000, 80, 20, 2001 If you have any questions about what this means and whether you're capable of this setup, please contact your Network Administrator. If they have any questions at all, please have them contact support. When I try to open a file in a browser window from the iProject, nothing happens. Why? Chances are good that you have browser security settings or security software that isn't allowing the iProject to open a new browser window on its own. Technically, the new window that opens to display the file could be considered a pop-up, so if you're using software that blocks pop-ups or a browser (such as Mozilla or Firefox) that has a built-in function to block pop-ups, this could be what's causing the problem. Steps to fix the issue will vary by software and browser, so we can't document all of them here. The best way to attack the problem is to try disabling the pop-up blocker or set your security settings to allow popups. Most pop-up blockers have built-in functionality that allows you to designate specific sites as "safe" to prevent the software from blocking pop-ups and javascript on that domain. Setting ireservoir.net as a safe domain will usually prevent pop-up blockers and built-in browser security settings from blocking the pop-ups from the iProject. The easier way to avoid having this problem is to use the iProject application launcher instead of the browser plug-in driven launch. Because the application launcher doesn't rely on a browser window, pop-up blockers won't consider the browser windows the iProject opens to be pop-ups. This eliminates the problem entirely without having to change any pop-up blocker or browser security settings. |
